Our Dog Rescue Gap Year Internship is designed for college-aged students who want to dedicate their time off from traditional studies and volunteer to help rescue pets. Our interns are placed in locations where we have partner organizations and their work my include volunteering at a partner shelter, fostering puppies to be shipped to our home base in Vermont, participating in building projects for partners such as making improvements on facilities, taking dogs to the vet as they prepare for transport and participating in mass sterilization clinics (e.g. the spayathon for Puerto Rico).
Each program is tailored to the goals of the interns and the priorities of our organization. We will work together with our potential interns to build an itinerary and budget then raise funds to help cover the associated costs. The interns will have a deadline for fundraising and after that the remainder of their tuition will be paid out of pocket. Because the itinerary changes with each group of interns, the cost for the program varies however interns can expect the price to be the direct costs plus a 15% donation to our organization.
The Student Rescue project is financially responsible for covering the costs of housing, transportation and any rescue related projects such as pet transport, vetting and building materials for projects.
